Obituary

Surrounded by her loved ones, Margaret Helena Lord Cade, 96, peacefully passed from this life to be with her Lord on December 26th, 2022, in Stuart, Virginia. Margaret was born in Seaford, Delaware on June 20, 1926, to Joseph B. Lord, II and Helena Hudson Lord. After the untimely passing of her mother, Margaret's "daddy" met and married Amelia Kleinwachter and together they operated the family business, "The Rip Van Winkle" – a restaurant, bar and dance hall where Margaret worked during her formative years. After High School, Margaret worked at the Dupont Nylon plant in Seaford. Soon thereafter she became the owner/operator of the "Rip Van Winkle" which always held a special place in her heart. Margaret had inherited an entrepreneurial spirit and created several other small businesses in her lifetime. After graduating from Delmarva Beauty Academy in Salisbury, Maryland, she opened the Lisa-Kay Beauty Salon in her home where she worked until her retirement in the late eighties. She and her beloved husband, Edwin F. Cade, Sr. enjoyed many years of retirement together. Margaret was a wonderful cook and host and enjoyed church activities, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Most importantly, Margaret was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She showed the love of Jesus to everyone she knew, and served faithfully as an active member in several churches on the Delmarva Peninsula including Seaford Christian Church, Old Paths Church of Christ and the Gateway Church of Christ. Always the perfect "lady", Margaret was impeccably dressed, never without perfect hair and make-up, and had a sweet, loving, prissy, sassy, spunky, feisty and fun personality that made everyone who knew her, love her. She was "the queen" of our hearts and will be greatly missed. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F. Cade, Sr., her parents, Joseph B. Lord, II, Helena H. Lord and Amelia K. Lord, and her brothers, Joseph B. Lord, III and Robert H. Lord. She is survived by her sister, Diana Lord Smith (Wayne), her children Kay W. Curry (Tim) and Edwin F. Cade, Jr. (Kathryn), by her grandchildren, Lisa M. Miller (Sam), Edwin F. Cade, III (Kim) and Melissa K. Ashley, by her great grandchildren, Ericca Boyce (Joey), Kristopher Bell (Brittany), Jake McIntyre (Victoria), Emily Tobias (Brendon), Xavier Ashley, Zander Ashley and Yarlee Ashley, and by her great-great grandchildren, Hannah Boyce, Aiden Bell, Addison Pentoney, Ariana Pentoney and Isabella McIntyre. Friends are invited for a visitation on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00, followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, Delaware. Margaret will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Millsboro Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
