Louis S. Parsons, 74, of Delmar, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at University of Maryland, R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born November 17, 1934 in Salisbury, a son of the late Harold M. Parsons, Sr. and Leona (Davis) Parsons. Lou, as he was known by many, proudly served his country in the US Army. He was equally as proud of his B.S. degree in Business Administration he earned at St. Peter's College in New Jersey. He worked as a manager in the accounting firm Coopers & Lybarnt in New York City for over 20 years before returning to Delmarva, where he worked a number of years in the men's department for the Hecht Co. For the past 6 years he loved his work as a deliveryman for Flowers by Hearn in Delmar. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel. Lou will be remembered as one of the kindest, gentlest friends anyone could ever have, always putting others needs before his. His attention to detail was obvious in all he did. Working in the yard and keeping flowers on the graves of his loved ones were especially rewarding to him. He was an excellent cook who could set a beautiful table for special occasions or everyday meals and especially loved decorating for the holidays. He is survived by a son, Gregory J. Parsons and his wife, Kimberley of Salisbury, NC; two grandchildren, Travis J. Parsons and Taylor Leighann Parsons, both of Salisbury, NC; his faithful companion of 27 years, Richard A. Mendoza of Delmar; two sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" P. Collins of Delmar and Phyllis Hudson of Salisbury, MD; a brother, Harold Parsons of Villanova, PA; a close friend, Mark Moyer of Delmar; and two close friends, who he considered family, Lois and Mandi from Flowers by Hearn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, "Nuby". A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 1:00 to 2:00 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, followed by a funeral service at 2:00. Pastor Donald Murray will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Hebron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 32827 Old Stage Road, Laurel, DE 19956.
