Obituary

Lottie B. Neill, 91, of Delmar, died Monday, June 8, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born September 9, 1923 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Thomas Bowden and Marie Layfield Bowden. She was a long time member of the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Delmar VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The support of our nation's veterans was always very important to her as she was always very active in the USO and other military support organizations. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her fried chicken, sweet potato biscuits and applesauce cakes. She was also an excellent dancer and loved to jitterbug. She kept an immaculate lawn and enjoyed being outdoors in her yard and flowers. Lottie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who always looked forward to her monthly lunch dates with her sisters. She is survived by four children, Ginger Scott, Donna Bennett (Bill), Harry Neill (Dottie) and Charlotte Neill Melvin (Norris); ten grandchildren, Randy Scott, Ronda Mitchell, Wanda Rice, Dawn Wright, Kevin Beauchamp, Kandra Czwalina, Christopher Neill, Sr., Kelly Neill Mowbray, Andrea Hudson and Teresa Workman; twenty-three great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Nettie Thomas Timmons, Ernest Bowden (Jean), Roland Bowden (Joyce) and Carrie Bradford; a sister-in-law, Vita; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Neill, who passed in 1990; a grandson, Billy Scott; a great grandson, Bergden; and brothers and sisters, Thomas, John, Irene, Virginia, June, Marylee, Mildred and Anna.
