Obituary

DELMAR- Lori Anne Gillespie, 55, of Delmar, took Jesus' hand on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home in Delmar, after a courageous fight with brain cancer. She was born September 23, 1960 in Oceanside, New York, a daughter of June R. (Williams) Gillespie of Delmar and William K. Gillespie and his wife, Carol of Kingman, Arizona. Lori was graduate of Wicomico Senior High School, class of '79. She worked over 35 years in quality control in the microwave and electronics industry. She was a loving mother of four and grandmother of five. Her children are Lauren, Kyle, and Katelyn Donophan and Anna LeCompte. Her grandchildren are Ariana, Brayden, Karlie, Kaylee and Rashawn. Her sisters are Patti L. Griffin and her husband, Tim of Delmar and Tammi L. Hudson and her husband, Skip of Laurel. She also leaves special friends, Nancy Quillen and Curtis LeCompte. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of friends that will always cherish their time spent with Lori. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Willmore, RN and the staff of Seasons Hospice. She is remembered as a hard worker at K&L Microwave, where she worked 23 ½ years, followed by 10 years at Lorch Microwave. She loved the beach, making crafts and camping with family and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a celebration of Lori's life, which will begin at 1:00. Ranny Townsend and Mrs. Johnie Conquest will officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 or Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care of DE, LLC, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
