Obituary

Lois W. Parsons, 80, of Seaford, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and sisters of the heart. She was born on September 27, 1935 in Salisbury, Maryland, a daughter of the late Lester and Arietta Wilkins. After high school, Lois married Elwood Richard Parsons. Through the years they lived in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Salisbury, Maryland, Dover, Delaware and Southern New Jersey, and eventually retired to Seaford in 1988. She then worked for Hearn Insurance in Seaford for 25 years. Lois loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, crocheting and reading. She also enjoyed the family pets, camping and traveling. She was a lifelong member of Charity Methodist Church in Salisbury. Lois had a strong Christian faith and she deeply cherished the friendships she made through church. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Lynn Sheehan (Ken), and Charlene Parsons (Fred Schultz); grandchildren, Sara Perry (Justin) and Jason Sheehan (Kristi); and many nieces and nephews, including Peggy Smith, Michael Smith, Jamie Smith, David Hall and Theresa Shockley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Richard Parsons, her sister, Florence Zeibel, and nephew, Lloyd Edward Smith. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford. Pastor Dean Perdue will officiate. In memory of Mrs. Parsons, donations may be sent to Charity Church, c/o Karyl Tyler, 29276 Waller Road, Delmar, MD 21875. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home.
