Lois C. Covington, 92, of Sharptown, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 23, 1918, in Seaford, a daughter of the late Levin and Georgeanna (Bounds) Collins. In addition to being a full time homemaker, Lois worked, in her younger days, at Benjamin's in Salisbury, a women's store for fine clothing. She was a very active member of the Junior Board Auxiliary at PRMC Hospital, a member of the Wicomico County Garden Club, the Westside Historical Society and a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Sharptown. She loved growing flowers and was most proud of her daylilies. She unselfishly cared for many family members during their last years and days. She was always giving her possessions to someone who needed them more than she did and her generosity to others will not be forgotten. She is survived by a son, Keith Covington of Stanardsville, VA; two grandsons, Jacob and Christopher Covington; her former daughter-in-law, Leni Male; a sister, Mary Collins Hoffecker; and nieces and nephews, Norma Lee Givens, Ernie Collins, Brenda Morris, Craig Webster, Mary Ann Hoffecker, Jack Hoffecker, Pat Benson, Cheryl Kennedy, Glenn Insley, JoAnne Insley, Lana Johnson, Faye Johnson and Ray Johnson. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Clyde Covington, who passed in 1998; three sisters, Doris Collins, her twin sister, Hettie Collins Johnson and Ruth Collins Webster; and six brothers, Milton, Norris, Gordy, Ernest and William Collins and Earl Insley.
