Obituary

Lois Ann Mitchell, born on April 7, 1932, in Powellville, MD, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Wicomico Nursing Home, at the age of 92. She was a daughter of the late Henry Preston Kelly and Gladys Collins Kelly. Lois will be remembered as a dedicated individual, having graduated from Wicomico High School in 1950 and later excelling in her career as a supervisor at Blind Industries and Columbia Vending. A woman of strong faith, Lois entrusted her life to Jesus at a young age, allowing His guidance to shape her journey. Through her unwavering belief, she touched the lives of those around her and found solace in knowing she was walking the path set for her. In her leisure time, Lois enjoyed the serenity of the beach and watching the hummingbirds and cardinals, and cherished moments spent over coffee with her dear friends. Her warm presence and genuine conversations enriched the lives of those who were fortunate enough to share in her company. Lois is survived by her loving children, Tricia Mitchell of Salisbury, Susan Hunter and husband Doug of Powellville, Stacey Parsons her husband, Darren of Laurel and Dennis Mitchell of Whaleyville; grandchildren, Joy Isenhower, Brian Hunter, Steven Hunter and wife, Jessica and Mathew Parsons and wife, Lindsay; great grandchildren, Lily Hunter, Ayden Hunter, Graham Parsons and Waylon Hunter; and sisters, Sandra Mucho and Linda Kelly. She ia also survived by a nephew, Nicholas Mucho and a niece, Natasha Mucho. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kelly; and a brother, Charles Kelly. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Wicomico Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Lois during her time there. Funeral services and ceremonies to commemorate Lois's life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Pastor Bill Nack will officiate. Interment will follow at Powellville Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Lois to Wicomico Nursing Home, c/o Activities Department, 900 Booth Street, Salisbury, MD 21801. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
