DELMAR- Lina Sophia Adabelle Mitchell Foskey, 90, devoted housewife and loving mother and grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She was born December 15, 1927 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Ben and Grace Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roland H. Foskey; sisters and their husbands, Ruth Adkins (Carlton), Joyce Meilhammer (Phillip), Mabel Meilhammer (Alford) and a brother-in-law, Art Meilhammer; sons, Phillip Foskey and Victor Foskey; 2 infant children; and a daughter, Susan Warner. She was also preceded in death by sons-in-law, Danny Warner and Gary Horseman, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Foskey. She is the mother of her surviving children, Phyllis Townsend (Edward, Jr.) of Willards, Carolyn Campbell (Frank) of Berlin, John Foskey (Michelle) of Townsend, Marty Foskey of Delmar, Judy Elliott (David) of Laurel, Mary Jane Horseman of Delmar and Roger Foskey (Kara) of Seaford; She is also survived by her siblings, Herman Mitchell (Kathleen) and Mary Lee Meilhammer; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her late husband's extended family. Lina grew up in Delmar and learned the value of hard work at an early age. In addition to her work as a chicken vaccinator, she was also raising a family, a job she truly loved. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed making her homemade chicken and dumplings, biscuits and fried chicken. In her free time, which wasn't often, she loved working in her garden, crocheting, reading, word-search puzzles and playing her favorite games, Greedy and Yahtzee. She was a faithful member of New Covenant Fellowship Church. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service which begins at 12:00. Pastor John Oltman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Melson's Cemetery in Delmar.
