Obituary

Lida Katherine Horne, 85, of Marion Station, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing and Rehab Center in Crisfield. She was born August 17, 1935 in Laurel, Delaware, a daughter of the late Mary Agnes (Massey) Kinnikin and Clarence Paul Kinnikin. Lida graduated from Mardela High School with the class of 1953. She enjoyed 31 years of work as drapery specialist for Sears & Roebuck. She started at Sears when it was in downtown Salisbury and stayed with them as they moved to the old mall and finally to the Centre before she retired. Lida was a long-time, active member of the Stein Highway Church of God, where she served as Sunday school teacher, Deacon and past-president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She always put God first in her life which led her to become an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and sewing. She handmade blankets for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and gave them as a Christmas gift, a gift that each will treasure for a very long time. She is survived by daughters, Valerie E. Ellis (Frank) of Catonsville and Karen E. Somers (John Lawrence, III) of Marion Station; son, Tim Horne (Christine) of Laurel; grandchildren, Paul Horne, Justin Horne (Michelle), Casey Best, and Megan Williams (Scott); great grandchildren, Savannah Davidson, Kayla Simmons, Journey Hopkins, Fantasy Hopkins, Lily Best, Lani Best, Cheyanne Best, Zoey Best, Cash Williams and Riley Williams; great-great grandchildren, Avery Kalb, and Addie Aydelotte; brother, Floyd Massey (Barbara); and a sister, Dorotha Shupe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leonard A. Horne; and a grandson, Brian Davidson. A walk-thru visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, Maryland. Due to current gathering restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
