Obituary

LeRoy G. Greenwood, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 17, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Roy and Anna Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Carolyn T. Greenwood; a daughter, Carolee Greenwood, of Salisbury; two grandsons, Chris Emge and his wife, Sabrina, and Kevin Meagher and his wife, Michelle; and two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Kendal Emge. After graduating from Southeastern University in Washington, DC, he served as a Staff Sergeant at Marine Corps Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, during World War II. Following the war, he was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an accountant for thirty-seven years. He was a member of Luther Place Memorial Church in Washington, DC, and then St. Luke's Lutheran Church, in Silver Spring, Maryland. After moving to Salisbury, he transferred his membership to Christ United Methodist Church. He and his wife were avid square-dancers and loved to travel. He was a member of the Kensington-Bethesda Masonic Lodge No. 198 for over fifty years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 10, at 1 PM, at Christ United Methodist Church, in Salisbury. The Reverend Bill Green will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Contributions in memory of Mr. Greenwood may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, 211 Philip Morris Dr., Salisbury, MD, 21804, or the charity of your choice.
