Obituary

Lee P. Timmons, 65, of Seaford, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at PRMC in Salisbury, Maryland. He was born on March 12, 1953 in Seaford, Delaware, a son of the late Paul and Georgia Timmons. Lee began learning to play the drums as a child, and years later he played with several local bands. As a young man, he began working with his father on the family farm, a job he enjoyed doing for thirty years. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables at his home. He loved to share the vegetables he grew with friends and family. Lee also loved wearing his Hawaiian shirts and had an impressive collection of more than 60. For the past 9 years, he and his wife Bonnie, together with a faithful group of volunteers have provided food and clothing at what is now the Matthew 25:35-40 Soup Kitchen, where he would take the time to welcome and get to know those who came for a meal. Lee spent the last 18 years working as a customer service associate at Cardinal Health in Laurel, and those he worked with became a second family to him. Most importantly, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie R. Timmons; two sons, Bradley Timmons (Megan) of Harrington, and Lee Pierce Timmons, II (Teri) of Florida; grandchildren, Ethan Bradley Timmons and Travis Japinoski; siblings, Alicia Timmons Raetz of Florida, Paul A. "Andy" Timmons (Jane) of Seaford, and Ina Rae Timmons Short (Richard) of Seaford; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dog, "Lilah." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon C. Timmons. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Seaford Wesleyan Church (The Ark). A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service and friends are invited to wear their Hawaiian shirts in his memory. In memory of Mr. Timmons, contributions may be made to the Blades Fire Department, 200 East 5th Street, Blades, DE 19973 or may be earmarked for either the Soup Kitchen or the church and sent to Seaford Wesleyan Church, 26630 Sussex Highway, Seaford, DE 19973.
