On Sunday, March 28th, the Hastings family unexpectedly lost their beloved Alton "Lee" Hastings at the age of 63. Lee is survived by his wife of 30 years, Terri; sons Eric and Kyle; siblings, Ricky, Gary, Joan, Jason, Toni; and his dog Leia. Lee was born May 25th, 1957 in Salisbury, Maryland to the late James Alton and Irma Jean Hastings. Lee grew up in Laurel, Delaware where he spent time between farms in his family. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1975. Lee and Terri settled down in Laurel where he helped build a beautiful life for his family. Lee spent just over 37 years working in several capacities for Pepsi Co. in Harrington, Delaware and Salisbury, Maryland where his dedication was evident throughout his entire career. Lee awoke as early as 1 a.m. to start his shifts, oftentimes, and despite a tough schedule, never missed his sons' achievements, special gatherings, or anywhere where he'd feel left out. Lee was a kid at heart and a physically active man who loved to "play". In the 1980's Lee was an avid weightlifter, placing in local competitions. He played on local softball and basketball teams while earning the nickname "O". Lee loved sports and was a fan of NHRA, WWF, the 1980's Celtics, Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bears, and the Rocky Balboa films. Lee volunteered to coach several sports teams during his sons' childhood, taking on the role of coach and second-dad to many. His favorite memories were spent either at the beach or in the family yard, jumping in the pool, and playing sports like basketball, ping-pong, and wiffle ball with his sons, friends, all while his wife made fun of him from the sidelines. Lee was at his best, and felt the most love, when his family and friends came to visit him - when he could share fistbumps and a belly-laugh. Lee was the star of the show and he will be so terribly missed. A celebration of Lee's life will be held at on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at 3CS USA Church, 38238 Old Stage Road, Delmar, Delaware, where a visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00.
