Lawrence Allwin Donoway, Jr., known fondly as Larry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 73 at his home in Snow Hill. He was born to the late Lawrence A. Donoway, Sr. and Beatrice McCabe Donoway on February 17, 1952, in Salisbury, Maryland. He spent his formative years in Newark, where he graduated from Snow Hill High School in the Class of 1972. Larry later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix.
Larry was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife, Rose Russell Donoway, his sons Mark Donoway and wife, Katie, and Keith Donoway and wife, Jenny, and his beloved grandchildren Lily, Graham, Oliver, Eve and Libby. He is also survived by sisters, Linda Glenn and Sandra Hickman and husband, Bob, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Stephen Donoway and Glenn Donoway, and a brother-in-law, Howard Glenn.
For over 30 years, Larry dedicated his career as a Quality Assurance Specialist for the Department of Defense, a job he truly enjoyed. His commitment to service extended internationally when he spent six months in Iraq in 2009, working diligently in civilian service.
Larry wore many hats and was remarkably talented with his hands. From home construction, metallurgy, brick masonry, automotive repair, electrical, and carpentry, he was a gifted craftsman and a true jack of all trades. Larry was proud to work along side of his sons and community youth by serving with the Appalachia Service Project. An avid boater, Larry enjoyed spending time on the water. He loved fishing, especially when his grandchildren were casting off the dock of the Pocomoke River Canoe Company. He was a member of the Salisbury Gun Club and enjoyed skeet shooting. Larry was proud to be a freemason and longtime member of Sinepuxent Lodge #193.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and the joy he brought to those blessed enough to know him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Newark, MD on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
