SALISBURY- Lavearn Robert Weichmann, 87, of Salisbury, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Atria Assisted Living Center in Salisbury, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. He was born June 27, 1924 in Deforest, Wisconsin, a son of the late George and Martha Krause Weichmann. Lavearn proudly served his country for 6 years in the US Navy during WWII. In his younger days he worked on fishing boats out of Ocean City and as a mail carrier in Ocean City. He retired after 20 years of service as an Aerospace Technician for NASA at the Wallops Island facility. He was a man with a huge heart who loved his family more than anything and cherished times special times with all of them. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with things. He is survived by eight children, Robert L. Taylor, Elmer D. Taylor, John M. Taylor, Jean "Tenny" Miller, Dale P. Taylor, Robert Weichmann, Wayne Weichmann and Denise Bowen; 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Merritt Weichmann; his second wife, Eriszenia Faye Weichmann who passed in 2004; a daughter, Barbara Taylor; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at College Avenue Community Church of God of Prophecy in Salisbury. Pastor Jeff Miller, grandson, will officiate, assisted by Pastor Gayleen White.
