SALISBURY- Laura Alexander Stevens, 90, residing in Salisbury, originally from Hayti, Missouri, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Sarah, Margaret and Mollies Assisted Living in Salisbury, where she happily lived for the last few years. She was born December 30, 1925 in Hayti, a daughter of the late Richard Alexander and Bertha Alexander Sutton. Laura had a beautiful singing voice and attended the University of Miami for a semester as a music major. Throughout her lifetime, she shared her gift of music with others by singing at many weddings, funerals and other important events. Laura enjoyed her life as a pastor's wife and fully supported her husband's ministries in the many churches he served. In her younger years she worked several years providing multiple services for patients at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She most recently attended Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill and St. John's United Methodist Church in Fruitland. She is survived by three children, Deitra Kay Stevens of Frederick, Maryland , Robin R. Brown and husband, Richard of San Jose, California and Richard Leslie Stevens of Frederick, Maryland; and five grandchildren, Justin, Stefanie, Jacob, Jena and Chelsea. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, The Reverend Willard Leslie Stevens, to whom she married on April 4, 1944; sisters, Thelma, Opal, Mabel and Esmal; and a brother, Richard.
