L. Donald Donohoe, Sr., 83, of Mardela Springs, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury of natural causes. He was born September 22, 1930 in Athol, near Mardela, a son of the late Louis G. Donoho and Helen A. (Marvel) Donoho. Donald worked hard most of his life on his farm and also worked for 52 years as a school bus contractor for Wicomico County. In his younger days he helped Sheriff Graham at the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, where he served as an Auxiliary Deputy. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Athol. He was also a member of Temple Lodge #170, A.F. & A.M. in Mardela, 32nd Scottish Rite in Baltimore and the Shriners. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting fishing and trapping. He is survived by his faithful companion of 40 years, Sandra J. Saulsbury; a son, Louis "Lou" Donald Donohoe, Jr. (Susan) of Mardela Springs; a daughter, Donna Faye "Faye" Rathel (Wayne) of Sharptown; 4 grandchildren, Tara C. Parsons (Danny) of Mardela Springs, Kathy Turner (Scott) of Salisbury, Brian Donohoe (Stacey) of Hebron and Karen Parsons of Salisbury; 8 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Mae Donoho of Mardela Springs; an aunt, Dot Ennis of Salisbury; and his companion's two sons, Joby Saulsbury (Mary) of Mardela Springs and Jeff Saulsbury (Vicki) of Vermont. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norris P. Donoho, who passed in 2002. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends can call from 12:00 to 1:00. The Reverend Donna Hinkle will officiate. Interment will follow in Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Mt.
