DELMAR-Kevin Colin Maloney, Sr., 62, of Delmar, died at his home on Sunday, September 8, 2013, surrounded by family. He was born December 12, 1950 in Salisbury, a son of the late Edward and Eileen Maloney. Kevin was a 1968 graduate of Delmar High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969-1972 where he served as a radioman on the nuclear submarine USS Will Rogers. After his discharge, he returned to his hometown and married Jean Nichols on November 11, 1972. He was employed for many years as a telephone technician at Delmarva TelePlus and Star Tech and most recently was a self-employed trainer of standardbred horses. Mr. Maloney was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of DSOA (Delaware Standardbred Owners Association), USTA (U.S. Trotting Association), Delmar VFW Post #8276 and the Hebron American Legion Post 237. He is survived by his loving wife Jean; 2 sons, Ian Maloney and Kevin (Casey) Maloney, Jr.; brothers, Greg (Bonnie) of Delmar, Sean (Melanie) of Salisbury, T.J. (Lana) of Salisbury and Lex (Sherry) of Delmar; and a sister, Margie Tingle of Salisbury; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brian. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00, followed by a funeral service which begins at 2:00. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
