BERLIN- Kenneth Leroy Wood, 65, of Berlin, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at his home in Berlin. Ken was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and grew up in Free Union, a son of the late Lloyd and Lilly Wood. He was raised by a very special lady and person in his life, his late grandmother, Charity Walker Wood. Before living in Berlin he spent many years raising his family in Seaford. His love for cooking led him to a lifetime career in the restaurant business. He owned and operated the former Linda Jean's Family Restaurant in Seaford and the Bridgeville Diner. He spent many years working for Hardee's where he quickly worked his way from store manager to district manager then regional manager. His most recent job was acting as operations manager for English's. He loved cooking for his family and they will certainly miss his special macaroni salad and other favorite dishes. When he was able to find time away from the restaurant business, Ken enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and avid dog lover. He is survived by his daughter, Misty D. Joseph and her husband, Todd of Seaford; 2 beloved grandchildren, Charity and Will; and a step-mother, Florence Wood of Lewes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Wood, who passed in 2000. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00.
