Snow Hill - Kenneth D. Brittingham, 78, of Snow Hill, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born November 10, 1934 in Snow Hill, a son of the late Lloyd and Helen (Mumford) Brittingham. "Britt", as he was called by all who knew and loved him, worked for Moore's Business forms in Snow Hill for over 21 years. He also worked for the Dennis Funeral Home in Snow Hill and for the city of Snow Hill as an EMT and ambulance driver. A life member of the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Britt considered his brothers and sisters in fire service his second family. He was the coffee maker at the Snow Hill firehouse almost every morning and really enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships made while solving the world's problems. He also loved the McDonald's roundtable group as well. He attended Girdletree Baptist Church. He was a faithful fan and fixture at the Delmar Speedway where he would go to root on his favorite driver, H.J. Bunting III and was a huge Richard Petty fan. His friendly smile and quick witted humor will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Jean (Owens) Brittingham; nieces and nephews who were all loved by him, Cindy Donalds and her husband, Ralph, Donna Lynch and her husband, Mike, Linda Dodson, David Owens, Jeff Owens and his longtime companion, Cheryl Post, Judy Glasgow and her husband, Kenny, Alan Owens and his wife, Vicky, Joan and Joe Solak, Stan and Cindy Risko, Tonda Doyle, Charles Barrett Jr., Debbie Barrett, Terri Haire and Charlene Goshon; 2 sisters, Betty Risko of Newark and Iva Doyle and her husband, Blaine of Pennsylvania; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, DE, and also on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00, followed by a firemen's funeral, which begins at 11:00 on Wednesday. Pastor Keith Horner will officiate. Interment will follow at Whatcoat Cemetery in Snow Hill. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 83, Snow Hill, MD 21863.
