Obituary

Delmar- Kenneth Ray Bradley, Jr., 85, of Delmar, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born February 19, 1932 in Oriole, a son of the late Kenneth Ray Bradley, Sr. and Mary Ernestine Baltz Bradley. Ken started helping on the family farm at a very young age and has been farming ever since. After graduating from Washington High School he took a job with DuPont in Seaford but left to go back to working on the farm. Other places he worked throughout his lifetime included Suburban Propane and T. Talbott Bond. He also worked as an independent truck driver for many years and as a mechanic with his Uncle Mike and owned the Western Auto in Delmar for several years. He was raised in the Episcopal Church and more recently was a long time member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. Ken was always active in his community and was a member of the Delmar Kiwanis Club, the Beaver Run Ruritan Club and the Delmar Lions Club. All who knew Ken remember him as someone passionate about his farming, bowling and collecting farm equipment and other items. He loved going to auctions and had a knack for finding great bargains. He could fix anything and was a skilled mechanic; a trait he proudly passed on to his family and especially his grandsons. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Anne Mills and husband, Oland of Salisbury, Connie Raye Bradley and spouse, Leigh Anne Nipper of Decatur, Georgia and Pamela Jean Finazzo and fiancée, Thomas Steele of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, Wayne E. Smith, Jr., Brian E. Smith and wife, Sarah, Alexandra Costello and Joseph Costello; and a great granddaughter, Cali. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Millicent Anne Young Bradley. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Following the services everyone is welcome to join the family for food and fellowship at Camelot Hall at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. After the fellowship time the family will gather at St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery in Princess Anne for interment. In memory of Mr. Bradley, contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
