DELMAR- Keith A. "Artie" Abbott, 59, of Delmar, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was born July 3, 1957 in Salisbury, the son of the late Keith K. and Shirley Thomas Abbott. Artie, as he was fondly known by all who loved him, proudly graduated from Delmar High School with the class of 1975, where he played football, basketball and baseball. After graduation he enrolled at Potomac State College. He was an avid Delmar sports fan but the Delmar High football team held a special place in his heart. He worked nearly 20 years at Dresser Wayne in Salisbury. Following the closure of the Salisbury plant, he worked at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for several years in the maintenance department. He was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed fishing in his younger days. He recently attended St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. He is survived by a son, Keith A. "Artie" Abbott, Jr. of Delmar; a special grandson, who was the apple of his eye, Koevie Blayze Abbott; sisters, Penny L. Glasgow and Ilah M. Preston (Chris), all of Delmar; nephews, Freddie Glasgow, Jason Glasgow, C.J. Preston, Keith Preston and Alan Preston; several great nieces, a great nephew and close friend, Dee Lehman. A celebration of Artie's life will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate.
