Keith K. Abbott, age 75, departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2007. He was born on September 2, 1931 in Van Buren County, Michigan, a son of the late Henry and Ilah (Fox) Abbott. After graduation from Lawton High School on Michigan, he proudly enlisted with the 9th Infantry of the U.S. Marines Corps during the Korean War, and served from 1950 to 1953. He was an honorary member of the Delmar Fire Department. He was an avid supporter of the Delmar athletic programs. He retired from Conrail after many years of service as a brakeman. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley T. Abbott; two daughters, Penny L. Glasgow and Ilah M. Preston, and her husband Chris, all of Delmar; a son, Keith "Artie" A. Abbott, Sr., of Delmar; six grandchildren, C.J. Preston, Keith Preston, Alan Preston, Artie Abbott, Jr., Jason Glasgow, all of Delmar; and Freddie Glasgow of Fruitland; One great grandson, Koevie Blayze Abbott of Delmar; one brother, Dallas Abbott and his wife Jerry of Lawton, Michigan; and two sisters, Maxine Bauer of Lawton, Michigan and Roberta Cooper of Muskegon, Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hazen, and a sister, Eilene Abbott Roberts. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar.
