Kathleen Searcey, 85, of Delmar, died peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Delmar Manor Assisted Living in Delmar, Maryland. She was born November 10, 1926 in Delmar, a daughter of the late William J. Elliott, Sr. and Catherine Elliott. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended Laurel Wesleyan Church and had a strong, personal relationship with God. Her faith helped her face her illness and in the last days she looked forward to God calling her home. She is survived by a family who loved her dearly, her son Jimmy Searcey and his wife, Nancy of Delmar; a grandson, Robert Searcey and his wife, Marilyn of Delmar; a granddaughter, Kimberly vanVulpen and her husband, Gaby of Laurel; and 5 great grandchildren, Ryan, Luke and Hannah Searcey and Alex and Amanda vanVulpen. She is also survived by several cousins and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jake Searcey; 3 brothers, Buck Elliott, William Elliott and Frank Wilson; and 2 sisters, Ruth Martin and Louise Jewell. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Kenneth Deusa will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
