June Bennett Miles, a beloved teacher and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 92 at Delmar Villas Assisted Living, where she had resided the past few months. She was born on June 18, 1933, in Salisbury, Maryland, and devoted her life to education, making a significant impact on her students during her many years as a second-grade teacher at Fruitland Primary School. She was the only child to the late Carl Phillip Bennett and Ethel Rae (Elliott) Bennett. June was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit, which extended beyond the classroom. Upon her retirement, she continued to be an active member of her community, often seen at her favorite restaurant, "Goin' Nuts," in Salisbury, where she considered the staff and servers her second family. A passionate dog lover, June dedicated much of her life to her beloved Westies, who brought her endless joy and companionship. She also cherished her trips to Ocean City, relishing the time spent on the beach, fishing, and indulging in Fisher's Popcorn. She also loved to play the slots and enjoyed her many trips to the Harrington Raceway and Casino. June is survived by her cousins, Sharon Cooper and husband Brian, Dean Collins and wife, Rhonda and Pat Dressel; her godson, Matthew Dressel; and several other cousins and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, who passed in 1980. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mardela Memorial Cemetery, where friends, family, and all who knew and loved June are invited to gather in remembrance of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804 in memory of June's love for animals.
