Julian M. Phillips, 90, of Nanticoke, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home in Nanticoke. He was born October 26, 1924 in Columbia, Delaware, a son of the late Paul Brooks Phillips and Mildred Blanche (Mills) Phillips. Julian proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. After he returned from the war, he went to work for the E.I. DuPont Company in Seaford, where he worked as a machinist in the tech lab for over 40 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury and the Delmar VFW Post 8276. He was also a long time, active member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Salisbury. He loved the outdoors and fishing was a favorite pastime. Mr. Phillips was good with his hands and was known to be able to fix almost anything. He is survived by two sons, Eric Phillips and his wife, Sheila of Salisbury and Michael Phillips of Delmar; three grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips, Eric Phillips, Jr. and Jessica Carver; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Brian Phillips and wife, Barbara of Salisbury and Dwight Phillips and wife, Pat of Delaware; a sister, Paula Smith of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene M. (Messick) Phillips, who passed in 2010; four brothers and six sisters. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00.
