Juanita Marie Long, 67, of Mardela Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 2, 1955, in Easton, a daughter of the late Walter A. Lane and Doris (Sard) Jennette. Juanita worked many years as an assembler at Dresser Wayne in Salisbury. Following her career there she worked as an ER Tech at the former PRMC. She was a past member of the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department where she served many years as an EMT, loved volunteering at the annual carnival and loved playing Santa Claus every year with her husband Wade. She was also a member of what was formerly the American Legion Columbia Post 269 Ladies Auxiliary. Juanita cherished and adored her family and hardly missed a sporting event or school function with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and loved feeding her family and friends and enjoyed canning beets and relish to share with family and friends. She also loved trips to the slots, painting yard ornaments, and being outdoors and especially loved fishing and sunbathing and playing with her beloved dog, "Gracie." Juanita will be remembered for her passion for helping others and would always go the extra mile to help anyone in need. She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Wade P. Long; sons, Desmond A. Brown, Jr. and wife, Cindy and Jason Brown and wife, Laura; daughter, Janelle Long and companion, Chen; grandchildren, Elijah, Desi, Jason and Ava; an Aunt Barbara; and many close and dear friends and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Takeisha "Shelly" Long; a cousin, Vicky, who was like a sister to her; stepmother, Marietta Lane; and stepfather, Nasa Jennette. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a service will begin at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Alvin Harmon will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Juanita's memory to the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 307, Sharptown, MD 21861.
