Joyce Hastings, 82, of Hebron, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2013 at her daughter's home in Pocomoke. She was born on October 24, 1931 in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Edwin and Pearl Vanover. Joyce had a love for the church. She enjoyed singing, poetry, reading the bible and being with her family. She was a pastor's wife and mother of the church for 21 years. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and welcoming smile. She was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by two sons, Walt Crouse and James Hastings; a daughter, Bonnie Bryant; grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Little Walt, Joseph, Adam, and Steven; a host of great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene and Leroy; and a sister, Dorothy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion J. Hastings; a son, Stephen Hastings; and siblings, Richard, Janie and Sona Rae. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
