Joyce M. Eskridge, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Joyce was born on September 27, 1944, in Milford, Delaware, but spent much of her life in Mardela Springs, Maryland, where she made countless cherished memories. In her early years, Joyce was a hardworking machinist at the E.I. Dupont Company in Seaford, where she dedicated many years of her life. She was a proud member of the Riverton Methodist Church, where she found not just faith but a strong sense of belonging and community. She was also an active member of the American Legion in Sharptown, where she made many lasting friendships. Joyce loved to shop at sales, especially at the American Corner in Denton, Maryland, and she had a special fondness for watching the horses race at Harrington and Ocean Downs. She is survived by her son, David Lee Eskridge, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Zackary Eskridge and his wife Cali, Jeremy Eskridge, and Hannah Eskridge, who will carry on her legacy and keep her memory alive in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Marie and George Gladden, and her husband, Donald Lee Eskridge. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
