Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lewis Parsons, affectionately known as Johnny, or "Pork Chop," who left this world on Thursday, September 11, 2025, following a tragic truck accident. Born on May 19, 1951, in Salisbury, Maryland, Johnny lived his entire life on the Delmarva Peninsula and was a son of the late Walter James Parsons and Mildred Dolores (Hastings) Parsons. Growing up in Salisbury, Johnny developed a passion for sports, particularly baseball and football, during his school days. Many cherished memories were made during summers spent at Salisbury Park, where he fished and played with his brother Ronnie and neighborhood friends. His dedication to service was evident when he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, followed by a commendable 17 years with the Army National Guard. Johnny had a lifelong passion for driving trucks and operating heavy equipment, spending many years working for regional lumber companies, including Cropper Brothers Lumber Co. and Paul Jones Lumber. His free spirit was reflected in his love for the open road, where he found joy and purpose. Family was at the heart of Johnny's life; he relished the moments spent at family gatherings and cookouts, always bringing laughter and warmth. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, embarking on many adventures, and shared a deep bond with his beloved dog, Bear. Johnny is survived by a daughter Amy Daisey; a devoted brother, Ronald L. Parsons, Sr.; his faithful companion of many years, Kimberly Isdell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends are invited to a visitation which begins at 10:00. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery.
