Obituary

DELMAR- John Kenneth "Kenny" Culver, 64, of Delmar died Friday, September 2, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Salisbury and raised in Sharptown, the son of Mary Bradley Culver of Sharptown and the late John H. Culver. Kenny, living in Delmar at the time of his death, was a dedicated volunteer in the service of others and a kind and well-liked person by all who knew him. He spent nearly 40 years as a mainstay in the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout many of those years he served as Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Chief, President and Treasurer. After 40 years of service, he retired in 2004 from the DuPont Company in Seaford. He and his wife, Trudi were able to enjoy traveling, their home in Delmar and their many friends and family. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 14 years, Trudi Lynn (Hake) Culver; a sister, Ruth C. McCann and her husband, Stephen of Salisbury; and his beloved "kids", his 2 cats, "Neka" and "Inky." Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sharptown Firemen's Memorial Building, 405 Joe Morgan Road, Sharptown, where family and friends may call from 12:30 to 2:00. Pastor Jim Penuel will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 307, Sharptown, MD 21861 or the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
