John Gregory Cash, Jr., 87, of Snow Hill passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on September 8, 1934, in Salisbury, a son of the late Gertrude Tilghman Cash and John Gregory Cash, Sr. Gregg, as he was fondly known by family and friends, lived in Snow Hill, Maryland his entire life. He graduated from Snow Hill High School, where he was a member of the chess club, the band, and played on the baseball and basketball teams. Being an avid swimmer, he worked as a lifeguard in Ocean City, Maryland during his high school summers. In 1954, Gregg married the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" Ellen Cash. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 4, 1955, as a specialist third class serving with the 313th artillery company until he was honorably discharged on February 7, 1957. After the military, Gregg was employed as an office manager in the 1960's followed by owning the Tasty Freeze in Snow Hill in the 1970's. Later he worked as an insurance agent and sales manager with Peoples Life, winning many national awards. Gregg loved fast cars, sports, and music. He owned drag racing cars that were raced at the Delmar Racetrack in the mid 1970's. His love of baseball followed him into his adult years, teaching his sons how to play baseball in their backyard and Moore's parking lot. Gregg coached his sons' pony and little league baseball teams and sponsored the teams when he owned the Tasty Freeze. Gregg was baptized at Spence Baptist Church by Bill Kunsman and joined the church on January 2, 1977. He was ordained as a deacon by Jimmy Painter on October 30, 1988. In addition to singing in the church choir, Gregg sang as a guest at local churches and in a local Christian band named Born Again in the early to mid 1980's. He loved his community and served throughout the years in the VFW and Rotary. Most importantly, Gregg was a dedicated husband and father who will be remembered by his wonderful sense of humor, love of practical jokes, animals, and devotion to Jesus. He is survived by his sons, John Edward "Buddy" Cash (Lisa), and Terry Lee Cash (Sherry); grandchildren, Gregg Cash, Shane Cash (Cristina), Christian Cash, Shaina Davane, Shannon Cash, and Troy Cash (Brittany); and a great granddaughter, Lillian Skye Cash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret "Peggy" Ellen Cash, who passed away on June 26, 2009.
