John S. Bridge, 87, of Delmar, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Dunbarton, New Hampshire on July 11, 1929, and was the son of the late Austin and Marybell Bridge. John was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served in communications. John attended Drexel Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his career as a route supervisor for the Daily Times in Salisbury. He later owned and operated the Bivalve Market in Bivalve, Maryland before he retired. He attended Melson's United Methodist Church. John enjoyed spending time with his family, antiquing with his wife and eating fine food. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Bridge; two children by his first marriage, John Raymond Bridge and Debbie Iafelice and her husband Vincent; three step-daughters, Cindy Dayton, Sandy Rose and Misty Fields; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephews, Glenn, Ronnie, and David Bridge; and a niece, Doreen Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Raymond Bridge; and two step-sons, Buddy and Timmy. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Reverend John Oltman will officiate. Interment will be held at St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar.
