DELMAR- Joanne Brittingham Hamilton, 74, of Delmar, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 10, 1939 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Marion F. and Rosalie V. Brittingham. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel, and currently a member of Melson's United Methodist Church in Delmar. She served as pastoral parish relations chairperson, Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the United Methodist Women for several years, and a member of the choir. Joanne worked many years taking care of children in her home, as well as, many grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing and watching NASCAR, and she was a fan of Jeff Gordon. She is survived by her loving husband of over 55 years, Franklin Delano Hamilton, Sr.; a daughter, Teresa L. Williams (Robert, Sr.) of Laurel; two sons, Franklin Hamilton, Jr. (Kelly) of Salisbury and Richard A. Hamilton of Laurel; a sister, Ginny L. Foxwell (Harry Lane) of Delmar; ten grandchildren, Bobby Williams, Jr., Alexis Hamilton, Cody Hamilton, Jason Hamilton, Randi Hamilton, Brittany Williams, Kristi Elliott, Bridgette Hamilton, Taylor Hamilton and Jordan Hamilton; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances E. Collins and Alice Workman. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 and on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.at the Short Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend John Oltman will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Melson's Cemetery in Delmar.
