Jerry Franklin Mears, 87, of Laurel passed away at his home on Monday, November 27, 2023. He was born on March 17, 1936 in Quinby, Virginia, a son of the late Ruby Estelle (Spence) Mears and Benjamin Franklin Mears. Jerry was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Laurel, where he enjoyed worshipping and spending time with the pastor and congregation. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sharon Mears; cousins, Sharon Retzko, Wesley Mears and Dennis Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Colin Mears. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
