Jerry Dean Hopkins, Sr., 87, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Delmar Nursing Home. He was born on January 20, 1936, in Delmar, Delaware, a son of the late William and Irene Hopkins. Jerry graduated from Hebron High School with the class of '54. After graduation he enjoyed a longstanding career on the road crew with the Maryland State Highway Administration and also enjoyed working the Sharptown drawbridge on weekends. He loved going to auctions and searching for bargains and was an avid decoy collector. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Humphreys Hopkins; sons, Jerry Dean Hopkins, Jr. and his wife Laura and Kirk D. "Chip" Pollitt and his companion Amy Parker; daughter-in-law, Kathy Pollitt; grandchildren, Christopher Hopkins, Nicholas Hopkins, Wesley Pollitt, and Stephanie Simpson; great grandchildren, Wyatt, John Wesley, Emerson, Connor, and Sadie; sister, Laura Culver; nieces, Trina Thompson and her husband Curt, and Terra Hall and her husband David; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Robert Pollitt. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
