Jerome W. Mitchell, 74, of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Jerome was born April 8, 1939 in Wilmington, Delaware, a son of the late John W. Mitchell and Kathryn and Linwood Baker. He retired from Crown Cork & Seal Company in Fruitland and was a member of Salisbury Baptist Temple. He loved to watch sports, and was an avid Orioles fan. He is survived by his children, Wesley J. Mitchell of Delmar, Joy M. Fothergill (John, Jr.) of Delmar, J. David Mitchell of Hagerstown, Jennifer A. Perdue (Wilson) of Snow Hill, Becky A. Bratten (Jason) of Berlin, and John W. Mitchell of Charleston, SC; twelve grandchildren, Eric Shirey (Kim) of Delmar, Aaron Shirey of Delmar, Joshua Shirey (Brooke) of Salisbury, Sarah Shirey of Delmar, John S. Fothergill, III of Delmar, Spencer E. Fothergill of Delmar, Michaela Mitchell of Whaleysville, Autumn Perdue, Taylor Perdue, Morgan Perdue all of Snow Hill, Haley Bratten and Jacob Bratten both of Berlin; six great-grandchildren, Connor William Shirey of Salisbury, Lily Beth King of Delmar, Jason Alexander Jeremiah of Eden, Kalana Pembrooke of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Fothergill and Kylie Fothergill both of Delmar; two brothers, Fred W. Mitchell and Stanley L. Baker, both of Salisbury; and two nephews. In addition to his parents and step father, he was preceded in death by a child. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Carlo Leto will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Millsboro Cemetery.
