Obituary

Jeffrey Howard Moore was born on October 28, 1964, in Salisbury, Maryland. He passed in the late morning of April 10, 2026, in his home in Delmar, MD after a courageous battle with ALS.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melody Moore; his children, Angela Sonnier (Chris), Katelyn Jackson, Jacob Jackson (Yvonne), Rebekah Jackson, and Joshua Jackson; and his grandchildren, Thomas and Tucker Sonnier, Everett and Elias Cahoon, and Savannah and Jude Jackson. He is also survived by his siblings, Roger Moore (Tricia) and Edna Melvin (Bill); along with nieces and nephews Kevin Moore (Michelle), Scott Phoebus (Shannan), Sandy Thompson (Brian), and Doug Melvin (Kim); many cousins, extended family, and close friends, including Ray Nack, Alphonso “Pookie” Cornish, and Dennis Pitmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Kenneth Moore, and sister Connie Phoebus (Brad).

Jeff graduated from Delmar High School in 1982. After working briefly at Johnny's and Sammy’s Diner and at an automotive shop, he went on to spend 42 years at Spartech, where he worked until 2025.

Jeff will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, and ability to make those around him laugh. He was also a gifted cook who loved preparing meals for his family. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, driving his Corvette, and taking in the beauty of nature, especially the Shenandoah Mountains, the Grand Canyon, Trap Pond, and the beach. Above all else, Jeff loved his family.

He was an avid traveler throughout his life. Some of his favorite trips included cruises to Belize and Honduras and many other destinations, as well as travels to Arizona, Vermont, Georgia, Jekyll Island, the Shenandoah Mountains, and Niagara Falls.

In his later years, Jeff and Melody found special joy in their camper at Roaring Point Campground, where they spent many weekends together and with family, relaxing and making lasting memories.

Jeff showed incredible strength in the face of hardship. He survived a heart attack in 2024 and soon after faced ALS. Under the compassionate care of Coastal Hospice and surrounded by the love of many family members, Jeff passed peacefully. Jeff accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized by his son on March 31, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Berlin, Maryland, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:15 am with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association in Jeff’s memory.

Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
