Jeanne Marie Powell Cohee, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at Tidal Health's PCU with her son, Kris, and a longtime friend with her, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 29, 1946, in Milford, DE, she was the loving daughter of the late Ollie Powell, Sr. and Pauline Emily (West) Powell and a member of the Class of '64 from Stephen Decatur High School. Jeanne's vibrant spirit shone through her lifelong passion for hairdressing. She devoted several years to working in salons and beauty shops before realizing her dream when she became owner and operator of Jeannie's House of Hair, in her home in Mardela Springs. Through her artistry, she built lasting relationships with countless clients over the years. Jeanne was very creative with flowers, crafts and fashion. Jeanne was an excellent cook who loved to entertain and host large family dinners and holidays. Her family will miss Thanksgivings with Jeanne and especially her hand rolled dumplings and pumpkin pie. Together with her late husband, Walt, they made countless memories camping, fishing, motorcycle riding and reveling in sunny beach days. They were members of AMSA for many years and especially loved trips to Assateague and attending their yearly jamborees. The last 25 years they enjoyed a permanent campsite at Sandy Hill Family campground making friends & memories. A devoted mother, she poured her heart into giving support to her sons, Kris and Trae, attending their school activities, little league, soccer games, and all the milestones that brought them joy. She was a former member of the Mardela Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Tragically, Jeanne faced the profound loss of her youngest son, Staff Sgt. Walter F. "Trae" Cohee, III, while serving in Afghanistan in January 2002. This pivotal moment reshaped her life, transforming her into a steadfast Gold Star Mom. With resilience and compassion, she provided support to other parents of veterans, working actively with organizations such as USMC Toys for Tots and Heroes Haven.
