Jeanette Gordy, 84, of Delmar, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 15, 1931 in Laurel, the daughter of the late Chester and Lida Windsor. Jeanette spent 20 years working as an office administrator for the E.I. Dupont Company in Seaford. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Salisbury, and she proudly served in the Women's Army Corps. She loved gardening (especially roses) and cooking, of which her family enjoyed very much. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Elijah F. Gordy; daughters, Barbara Gordy Dennis (William) of Salisbury, Charlotte Louise Hastings (Greg) of Millsboro, and Vickie Leigh Nelson (Richard Crumbacker) of Crisfield; a son, Mark Franklin Gordy (Lisa) of Delmar; grandchildren, Rodney Sullivan (Kelly), Brent Sullivan, Jason Hastings (Shante'), Aaron Dennis (Sarah), Jonathan Hastings (Jessica), Rachel Colby (Henry), Sarah Mister (Woody), Josh Nelson (Sarah), Matthew Gordy (Ashley), and Meghan Gordy; great grandchildren, Jared, Grant, Colleen, Amanda, Camryn, Tori, Khloe, Lilly, Maya, Alex, Cason, Parker, Dallas, Dillon, Sophie, Andrew, and Daisy; sisters-in-law, Amelia Gordy and Delores Windsor; good friends, Ralph and Josephine Dorey; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Michael Gordy; and a brother, Jack Windsor. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Line Cemetery in Whitesville.
