Jean Winn Bowden, 85, of Parsonsburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 23, 1937 in Abbeville, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Amy Uldrick Winn and Claude A. Winn, Sr. Mrs. Bowden worked various jobs throughout the years, but none were more important than taking care of her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and always loved decorating her home inside and out for holidays and the change of seasons. She was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother, and will be remembered for her frequent phone calls to check in on her family and for never forgetting a birthday. She enjoyed making many different kinds of crafts and going to local craft shows. She had a special love for her pets including her miniature horses, pygmy goats, birds, and her beloved dog, Kasey. She is survived by her son, Tony Boughman; step children, Glenda Shrieves (Herbert), Gary Bowden (Joan), Dennis Bowden (Gwen), and Carol Dent (Curtis); step grandchildren, Ernie Shrieves, Becky Bowden, Emily Tedore (Adam), Jared Bowden, Lindsay Daniels (Grant), Ryan Bowden, Christopher Dent (Becky), and Catrina Hernandez (Michael); step great grandchildren, Skye Shrieves, Brianna Shrieves, Zachary Dozier, Delpha Daniels, Morgan Dent, Daemyn Dent, Colby Hernandez, and Madison Hernandez; and nieces and nephews Ann Ford, Kathy Schwed, Kevin Winn, Stan Newton, Louie Newton, Claude Newton, Lee Newton, Nancy West, Thomas Winn, Rhonda Singleton, and Kyle Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Franklin Bowden who passed away on February 14, 2023; four brothers; three sisters; and a step granddaughter, Jamie Dent. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
