Delmar- Jean S. Banks, 83, of Delmar, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born March 5, 1933 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Ralph C. and Ruth A. (Perdue) Cordrey. Jean worked several years for various sewing factories in Delmar before starting her career in food service at Delmar Elementary, a job she loved and retired from in 2010 after 28 years of service. She enjoyed working in her yard and flowers and her roses were her pride and joy. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Christmas time was her favorite time of the year and she always looked forward to setting up Christmas decorations in the yard, with the help of her family. She is survived by a daughter, Donna K. Wilkosz and husband, Ronald of Delmar; a son, James S. "Sam" Banks, II and wife, Colette of Delmar; grandchildren, Heather Ammons (Marty) of Delmar, Stephanie Ruark of Delmar, Jordan Banks and his fiancé, Courtney of Powellville and Devin Banks, USAF, (Jessica) of Montana; great grandchildren, Lauren, Brittany, Justin, Hunter, Marley, Brianna, Johnathan and Matthew; and great great grandsons, Braxton and Nicholas. She is also survived by her best friend and buddy, her beloved dog "Chico." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 ½ years, James "Jimmy" S. Banks, who passed in 2007; her special companion for 5 years, Harold Webb, Sr.; and three sisters, Betty Chew, Naomi Wells and Mary Long. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delmar Fire Department, P.O.
