Jason Courtney Morris, 44, of Delmar passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 due to injuries sustained from an auto accident. He was born on March 30, 1976 in Salisbury, Maryland, a son of Brenda L. Morris of Delmar and the late Joseph C. Morris. Jason graduated from Delmar High School with the class of '94, where he played soccer. After high school Jason spent some time in New England before returning to his beloved Delmar to be near family and friends. He spent the last 14 years working for Norfolk Southern as a track foreman and welder. He was an active member of the Delmar Fire Department, where he was currently serving as 4th assistant engineer and served in various capacities through the years. He was also a member of the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team. To know Jason was to love Jason. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his charming grin and as a wonderful son, brother, husband and friend and most importantly as a loving and caring father. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Morris; sons, Seth Courtney Morris and Jason "JJ" Courtney Morris, Jr.; brother, Joseph C. Morris, Jr. and his fiancé Kristen Lowe; sister, Jennifer C. Miller; nieces and nephews, Whitley Allexus Olmstead and her husband David, Joseph Koy Langless, Chance Morris, and Kenzie Morris; great nephews, Keegan and Sean-David Olmstead; aunts and uncles, Becky and Michael Higgins and Deadra and Archie Brodey, Jr.; uncles, Craig Webster; and many cousins. He is also survived by his step-children Matthew and Mia Hammond and by in-laws, Joy and Keith Baker and their family. A walk-thru visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Due to current gathering restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required. A fireman's funeral service will be private. Livestreaming of the funeral services will be available at www.shortfh.com on Monday morning, December 28, 2020. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
