Bishopville – James Wesley Hewitt, known to family and friends as "Wes", died April 9, 2013 at his home following a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old. Mr. Hewitt was born July 7, 1944 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Frank L. Hewitt Jr. and Mildred West Hewitt. He attended St. John's College High School in Chevy Chase, Maryland and the University of Texas. During the Vietnam War, Mr. Hewitt served as an electronic technician for four years in the U.S. Navy, aboard several aircraft carriers including the USS Constellation (CV-64). He worked in the banking industry in Montgomery County, Maryland for many years before moving to the Eastern Shore, and was a lifelong member of Congressional Country Club in Potomac, Maryland. Mr. Hewitt is survived by his wife, Katherine W. Hewitt; three daughters, Heather Hewitt of West Hollywood, CA, Page Hewitt of Ocean City, MD and Robin Hewitt of Nashville, TN; a brother and sister, Frank L. Hewitt III of Potomac, MD and Sharon Balderson of Kiawah Island, SC; and four step children, Rachel Presby, Daniella Pogge, Jeremiah Presby and Dylan Presby. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care provided throughout Mr. Hewitt's illness by Ms. Barbara Aydelotte and Ms. Julie Littleton. A celebration of his life will be held on May 11, 2013 from 11:30a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Selbyville Fire Hall, 30 N. Main St. Selbyville, DE 19975.
