Obituary

DELMAR- James F. Spadin, 77, of Delmar, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 8, 1937 in Fredonia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Louis Eugene Spadin and Leah (Kraph) Spadin. Jim, as he was known by all who loved him, was a skilled carpenter and worked many years with his brothers for Spadin Brothers Construction Company. He worked various jobs after that, including his many years as owner and operator of Lighthouse Construction in Fenwick and working as a carpenter for Larmar Corp. in Salisbury. His true passion was trout fishing and he loved to hunt and cook as well. He will be remembered for his roasted turkeys and vegetable soup. His family was never really sure if turkey was a favorite of his to cook but it was certainly their favorite to eat. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna Jean (Stewart) Spadin; four children, James Todd Spadin and his wife, Dawn of Delmar, Keith Alan Spadin of Laurel, Sheila Marie Gochnour of Delmar and Eric Brian Spadin and his wife, Bonnie of Princess Anne; twelve grandchildren, Heather, Melanie, J.T., Ryan, Brooke, Kimberly, Krystal, Shawn, Ashley, Josh, Tyler and Rachel; twelve great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Paul Spadin of Fulton, Maryland, Perry Spadin of Virginia, Mary Mikalas of Nevada and Emily Fix of Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and the love of his life, his Sheltie, "Lady." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 2:00.
