James "Jim" E. McCauley, 86, of Delmar, departed this life peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born December 7, 1936, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a son of the late Jesse Franklin McCauley and Alice Kathleen (Garrison) McCauley. Jim was raised in Aberdeen, Maryland and graduated with a law degree from Mount Vernon Law School, Baltimore (now University of Baltimore.) He retired in 2000 after many years as Director of Safety & Security from Perdue Farms. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Delmar. He will be remembered for his love for God, family, and friends and his passion for RVing. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Sue (Elliott) McCauley, who he married on February 14, 1987; children, Laura McDermott (Mike), Todd McCauley (Susie), Aaron Bergeron (Allison) and Kara Johnson (Kenneth); grandchildren, Nathaniel McDermott (Rachel), Amanda McDermott, Stephen McCauley, Justin McCauley (Tiffany), Caitlyn Garnett (Jeff), Jason Fox (Arlyn), LeAnn Tull, Andrew Bergeron (Alison), Austin Bergeron (Alison), Lonnie Bergeron, Damien Bergeron, Karis Freeman (Loagnn), Kenzi Burdell (Jacob), and Kenan Johnson; great grandchildren, Benjamin McDermott, Theodore McDermott, Jackson Garnett, Gracie Garnett, McKenzie Garnett, Austin Fox, Jasmin Fox, Kyla Tuzon, Alexis Vickers, Kourtney Clagg (Zac), Natalee Tull, Wyatt Bergeron, and Sawyer Bergeron; and a great-great grandson, Brayden Clagg. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Roberson (Clay); and sisters-in-law, Peg Elliott and Deanna Holland. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jesse Franklin McCauley, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Wil Elliott; mother-in-law, Ida Baker; step father-in-law, Ralph Baker; and father-in-law, Otis Elliott. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
