Obituary

James "Jim" Edward Lewis, Sr., of Salisbury, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He was 86 years old. Jim was born February 9, 1938 in Keyser, West Virginia, a son of the late Lloyd James Lewis and Margaret Edith Dawson Lewis. He graduated from Indian River High School. He attended Emmanuel Church for many years. Through the years he enjoyed his work as a meat cutter for ACME Markets, Colonial Store, Warehouse Food Market and Food Lion. Jim loved the outdoors and was happiest when fishing, hunting, or taking trips to Assateague to watch the ponies. Jim will be remembered for his extensive pocket knife collection. He could never have too many. He also had a passion for stock car and Go-Kart racing, and sports, especially the O's, Baltimore Ravens and the Shorebirds. Jim was a lover of people. He found friends wherever he went and could turn a stranger into a friend with a few kind words. He loved taking a ride and many of those rides would include a trip to the boardwalk in Ocean City for some Thrasher's fries and popcorn. He adored his pets and considered them family. The highlight of his life was racing Go Karts with his grandson Jamie. His other passion was spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren and he was especially proud of Brittany and Shanon and all they have accomplished in life. He is survived by his son, James "Jim" Edward Lewis, Jr. and wife, Kim of Milford; his daughter, Debbie Mooney and husband, Shawn of Mardela Springs; grandchildren, James Lewis and wife Lisa, Shanon Warman and husband Devon, Brittany Hyneman and husband Doug, Lexi Wimer and husband Dennis, and Randall Daino and fiancée, Taylor Wessel; great grandchildren, Noah, Andrew, Hunter, Dakota, Annalynn, Skye, Waylon, Tatum, and Rowan; a former grandson-in-law, Alan Brady, who was always there to help Jim with anything he needed; and a nephew. Keith Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Joyce Ann Lewis and a brother, Ronald Lewis. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
