Obituary

James William Larmore, 76, of Mardela Springs, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Curtis Lee Larmore and Katherine Ida (Clemmens) Larmore. Mr. Larmore proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and served another 20 years in the Navy Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion in Salisbury. He became an ordained minister in 1972 and pastored many churches on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia and also served in Pennsylvania. He was currently a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Salisbury. His career in law enforcement was a rewarding one, serving as deputy sheriff in Hurlock and Federalsburg from 1982 to until 1997 when he retired. Never afraid of hard work, he tried his hand in many different vocations. In addition to his work in the ministry and law enforcement, he also worked as an auto mechanic, specializing in Volkswagens, HVAC mechanic, stock car driver and tractor mechanic. He was proud of his Nanticoke Indian heritage and participated in his last pow-wow in Pocomoke this past May where he received his Indian name, "White Fox." His special interests included karate and books. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Marie Green Larmore; 4 sons, Curtis Leroy Larmore (Stephanie) of Salisbury, Douglas F. Larmore (Peggy) of Easton, Matthew James Larmore (Melissa) of Cambridge and Andrew C. Larmore of Salisbury; a sister, Margie Anderson (Alonza) of Ocean City; a brother, Jack Larmore (Jean) of Edmonds, Washington; 3 grandchildren, Anna Marie Joy Larmore, Tasha Haddaway, and Donald Coleman; and three great-grandchildren, Kain, Haven and Immanuel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy "Babe" Christopher. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Church of Christ in Salisbury, where family and friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Liberty Church of Christ, 1313 Old Ocean City Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
