DELMAR- James Moses Carlisle, 86, of Delmar, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Goldsboro, MD, a son of the late Willard and Anna Mary (Hastings) Carlisle. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a long time member of the American Legion Post 218 in Sharptown. He was a talented builder and worked in construction work for many years for Kenney Construction. He cherished times spent with his family and focused on caring for his wife and best friend during her last years. He loved children and had a special fondness for animals. He is survived by a brother, Charles Upham of Hebron; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Margaret Hill Carlisle, who passed in 2004; and two sisters, Zora Eye and Florence Pederson. At his request, there are no formal services planned at this time. Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
