Obituary

James Ross Abbott, 71, of Eden, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born on April 7, 1944 in Salisbury, a son of the late Reginald and Louise Muir Abbott. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He spent many years as an auto body technician for White's Used Cars in Fruitland. He was a member of the Delmarva Van Club, American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury, and the Redmen Lodge in Fruitland. He loved fishing, working on cars, and coaching Little League Baseball. He is survived by his children, Timothy Lee Spicer of Greenwood, Leslie Dawn Klekotka of Mardela Springs, Lisa Torres of Dowes, Iowa, Brian Keith Spicer of Delmar, and Ross Wendell Abbott of Delmar; 20 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a sister, Regina McGriff of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Perry Willey, Judi Andrews, and Patrick Andrews, all of Salisbury;. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brent Spicer; and two brothers, Jerry Abbott and Ronald E. Abbott. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Bunting and Mr. Gary Harrison will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Legion Post 64, Wounded Warrior Weekend, 1109 American Legion Drive, Salisbury, MD 21801.
