Jacqueline Shirley Elliott ("Jackie"), 84, of Hebron, Md., passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Born April 12, 1933, in Columbia, Delaware, she was a daughter of the late Sherman T. and Beula E. (Bradley) Cooper. Jackie was a graduate of Delmar High School, graduating in 1952, and continued to be a proud supporter of the Delmar Wildcats throughout her life. She is survived by five children, Heidi Glasgow (Joe), Salisbury; Lydia Passwaters (Ronnie), Delmar; Kevin Coleman (Lisa), Hebron; Shelley McKinney (Chuck), Salisbury; and Stephanie Elliott (Wayne), Delmar; three step-children, Fran Todd (Denny), Eldorado; Dawn Thompson (Bobby), Sharptown; and Harlan Elliott, Jr. of Delmar. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Amber Whaley, Jasmine Carroll, Grayson Gordy, Mark Passwaters, Kevin Coleman, Jr., Christina Heath, Kelly Shiles, Lacey Coleman, India Elliott, and Bradley Elliott; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Byron Holston, of Plain, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind three cats whom she adored, Mouse, Mindy Elizabeth, and Anna Lisa. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was what Jackie enjoyed the most, and she loved being the matriarch of her family. She was blessed with an amazing memory and enjoyed telling detailed stories from her childhood and throughout her life. She particularly enjoyed stories and information pertaining to family history and genealogy, and passed down a wealth of information to her children. Jackie will be remembered for her quick wit, her sense of humor, and her love for animals – particularly cats. She enjoyed her weekly visits to Kellie's Hair Place and was grateful for the friendships of the ladies there – particularly Kellie Bergen and Margaret Ware. She was also grateful for the friendship of Judy Lebron who always took special care of her when she shopped at the Hebron Food Rite and had become a dear friend. Mrs. Elliott was a Nursing Assistant who worked as a private duty sitter for several prominent area families. In later years, she worked for the State of Maryland as a Personal Care Provider, providing home-based care to the elderly. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Elliott, Sr.; a son, Benjamin C. Coleman; her sister, Margaret Holston; a nephew, Mark Holston; and a special cousin, Ellen Kerley, who was her closest friend and confidante. A brother, Philmore Cooper, died in infancy. Jackie was a life-long member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Columbia, Delaware – a church that was built by her great-grandfather. She was also a member of Double Mills, Inc, and was active in the restoration of the Double Mills Grist Mill in Mardela Springs, where her father had been the miller in years past.
